The first “Pink Shirt Day”was organized by David Shepherd and Travis Price of Berwick, Nova Scotia, Canada who in 2007 saw a boy in the 9th grade being bullied for wearing a pink shirt on the 1st day of school. They bought and gave out 50 Pink shirts to all the boys to wear in class to show solidarity with the bullied boy.
The Nova Scotian Premier proclaimed the 2nd Thursday of September as a “Stand Up Against Bullying Day” in honour of their efforts.
In 2008, the Premier of British Columbia, Canada proclaimed February 27 to be the provincial anti-bullying day.
It is different days in different areas (in 2015 it is February 25 in British Columbia).
