Happy Guy Fawkes Day!
Most People are familiar with the “Guy Fawkes” masks (used by the Anonymous Group) but do you know much about
the “Guy” ? Guy Fawkes was one of a group of 14 that plotted to blow up the House of Lords on November 5, 1605.
There were 36 Barrels of Gunpowder in the cellar below where the King would be sitting in Parliament. Guy was caught red-handed just hours before the Gunpowder Plot was scheduled to take place.
On Guy Fawkes day people celebrate the foiling of the plot (Guy was apprehended and met a very bad end). On Guy Fawkes Day/Bonfire Night …. Effigies of Guy are burned in Bonfires and sometimes there are Fireworks.
This day is Celebrated in the UK and places with a British past like Australia and New Zealand. Parts of Canada still celebrate – like Newfoundland.
